A bit about Catherine Smithmyer, Director of
Chesapeake Bay Psychological Services:
A longtime resident of Queen Anne's County, Dr. Smithmyer is a licensed psychologist who has been
providing outpatient psychological services on
Maryland's Eastern Shore for more than eight years.
She is a member of the American Psychological
Association, Psychologists in Independent Practice,
and the Maryland Psychological Association. Before
opening Chesapeake Bay Psychological Services, Dr. Smithmyer:

- trained in the Philadelphia Child Guidance
model of family therapy
- earned her Ph.D. from the APA-accredited
clinical psychology program at the University of
Delaware
- completed the Devereux Foundation's APA-accredited
internship in child/adolescent psychology
- taught undergraduate Psychology at the
University of Delaware and Anne Arundel
Community College
- collaborated in the development of Kennedy
Krieger Institute's ADHD Clinic
- provided therapy and evaluation services at
Chester River Behavioral Health in Chestertown
- taught graduate Neuropsychology at
Washington College
When Dr. Smithmyer is not in the office, she
enjoys gathering with the Smithmyer clan, hiking
mountains and canyons with her husband and children,
biking and skating on Kent Island's trails, and
attempting to write
fiction.
